Die G-8-Schlacht
3000 gewaltbereite Autonome stürzen den G-8-Protest mit Steinwürfen und Brandbomben ins Chaos. Die Polizei (über 140 verletzte Beamte) antwortet mit Knüppeln und Tränengas
Rostock – Es sollte der Auftakt der friedlichen Massendemonstrationen gegen den G-8-Gipfel in Heiligendamm (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) sein. Doch unter die G-8-Kritiker hatten sich Tausende linksradikaler Chaoten gemengt – die Veranstaltung endete mit schweren Ausschreitungen.
Samstag, ab 8 Uhr: Zehntausende Globalisierungsgegner treffen in Rostock ein, sammeln sich an den zwei Startpunkten für die zwei geplanten Demonstrationszüge zum Rostocker Stadthafen.
Doch statt der von den Veranstaltern erwarteten 100 000 Teilnehmer kommen nach Angaben der Polizei nur etwa 25 000 Demonstranten, darunter etwa 3000 gewaltbereite Autonome. Bereits kurz nach Beginn der zunächst friedlichen Demonstration die ersten Angriffe aus den Reihen von Autonomen auf die Polizei.
14.15 Uhr: Die Demonstrationszüge haben fast den Stadthafen erreicht, wo die Abschlusskundgebung stattfinden wird. Plötzlich fliegen Steine und Flaschen in Richtung der Polizisten.
14.45 Uhr: Der erste Polizist wird verletzt, ein Demonstrant soll ihn mit einem Messer attackiert haben.
15.11 Uhr: Eine Gruppe von Polizisten wird von Randalierern eingeschlossen. Vermummte Autonome greifen ein Polizeiauto an, zerstören die Scheiben.
15.19 Uhr: Erste Feuerwerkskörper werden auf die Polizei abgeschossen. Die Beamten wehren sich mit Reizgas.
15.35 Uhr: Immer wieder werden kleinere Polizeigruppen von Chaoten gejagt.
15.55 Uhr: Nach mehreren Aufrufen der Demo-Organisatoren beruhigt sich die Lage zunächst.
16.15 Uhr: Die Unruhen nehmen wieder zu, Autos werden umgeworfen. Die Polizei bringt Wasserwerfer und Räumfahrzeuge in Stellung.
16.45 Uhr: Die Polizei zieht sich zurück, die Autonomen folgen den Beamten.
17.00 Uhr: Trotz der Ausschreitungen bewerten die Veranstalter die Demonstration als Erfolg. Nach ihren Angaben sind 80 000 Teilnehmer gekommen.
17.23 Uhr: Zwei Autos im Stadthafen gehen in Flammen auf.
17.40 Uhr: Wasserwerfer und Räumfahrzeuge fahren am Stadthafen auf. Die Krawallmacher verstecken sich bei den friedlichen Demonstranten.
18.25 Uhr: Redner bei der Kundgebung stacheln die militante Szene weiter auf.
19.10 Uhr: Die Organisatoren des Anti-G-8-Protests machen gewaltbereite Randalierer für die Eskalation der Gewalt verantwortlich, verteidigen das Verhalten der Polizei. Ein Sprecher der Organisation Attac: „Der Ursprung der Krawalle war der Angriff auf einen Polizeiwagen. Es gibt keinerlei Rechtfertigung für Angriffe auf Personen, wir distanzieren uns davon.“
19.56 Uhr: Hauptkommissar Ingolf Dinse (42) am Rand des Einsatzes zu BILD am SONNTAG: „So eine Brutalität habe ich noch nie erlebt.“
20.14 Uhr: Ein weiterer Polizist: „Wenn Molotow-Cocktails fliegen, bleibt uns keine Wahl, als Wasserwerfer einzusetzen. Die Bilanz spricht für sich: fast 150 verletzte Kollegen. Mann, das ist doch der pure Wahnsinn.“
21.38 Uhr: Entgegen aller Befürchtungen scheint sich die Lage zu beruhigen. Doch Rostock wirkt immer noch wie ein Schlachtfeld: Umgestürzte und ausgebrannte Autos blockieren Straßen. Überall liegen Pflastersteine. Sachschaden: noch unschätzbar.
22.05 Uhr: Früher als geplant geht die Protestkundgebung mit dem Konzert der Popband „Wir sind Helden“ vor noch etwa 8000 Besuchern friedlich zu Ende. Die Polizei kündigt an, „stark“ für die Nacht aufgestellt zu bleiben.
Die Bilanz, kurz vor Mitternacht: 152 Beamte verletzt, 25 von ihnen schwer. 78 Autonome wurden von der Polizei festgenommen und blieben zunächst in Haft. Unklar blieb, wie viele Demonstranten verletzt wurden. Fest steht: Diese Schlacht hatte nur Verlierer!
